Photography by Peter CatonPat Ransom

BA University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada AOCAD (candidate) Ontario College of Art and Design, Toronto, Canada

A dedicated artist and figurative painter, Pat enjoys painting "people-scapes", scenes depicting people going about life. Though Pat's work is mainly realistic, experiences and emotions from 'the arena of life' are reflected in her paintings. "I use oil paints because I enjoy the lushness of the medium. I also like the fact that the medium causes my work to occur over an elapsed time period. This forces me to pause to reflect on my work as it evolves." Pat also loves the immediacy of watercolour. Since she spends as much time as possible at her family chalet in Craigleith Ontario, many of her landscape paintings are created 'en plein air' based on rural and nature scenes in this area.
